Our Mission: New Hope Academy provides innovative programs and teaching strategies in a supportive environment. Our curriculum is designed to improve students’ academic and social skills, which leads to a better quality of life opportunity. Our instructors help students overcome challenges through structured classwork and individual attention.
Our Vision: New Hope Academy’s vision incorporates a plan of educational growth, which features student-driven, individualized curriculum. Our approach to education is hands-on and challenges students at their individual levels. The goal for our students is for them to exceed their expectations for success.
Our Passion: Students who learn differently face obstacles others never have to face. We view obstacles as challenges to be met and conquered. Our typical student has an uncommon educational need, and our staff has the knowledge and tools necessary to help students overcome their learning obstacles. Each day, we provide a unique education experience to incomparable students with brilliant and creative minds.
Our Founder: Mrs. Tina Halbert is the founder of New Hope Academy. Known as “Ms. Tina” around our community, she originally started New Hope so that her daughter, who is physically challenged and also has learning disabilities, would have a safe, bully-free environment that would help her reach her potential. She knew it would require a totally different approach to education, and that the teachers hired for New Hope had to be able to think outside of the box and find ways to reach and teach every child.
Ms. Tina holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Auburn University Montgomery and a Master’s of Education in Learning Disabilities from the University of West Georgia. She has taught for over 25 years and has recently been certified in dyslexia interventions, her new passion. She is married to Chris Halbert, and they have three grown children.
